Recreating Roman perfumes

Saturday, October 14th, from 11 AM until 3 PM, there is a new workshop at Camp Virtus, near Cluj. The experimental archaeology and reenactment meeting is dedicated to Roman perfumes, unguents, and creams. There will be a presentation of the sources and other reconstruction attempts, of the ingredients and procedures, followed by a hands-on workshop and concluded with the tasting of Roman food recipes.
The meeting is part of the "Labyrinth through" time cultural project, co-financed by the National Cultural Fund  Administration of Romania and implemented by Virtus Antiqua NGO.

Roman elegance

Camp Virtus is ready for the next open air reenactment event, to be held on the first Saturday in September. Join us near Cluj for a practical workshop of ancient Roman elegance - smell perfumes prepared according to ancient recipes, try some cosmetic treatments, have you hair done the Roman way (temporarily sewed at the hands of our experienced "cosmetic slave girls"), and take photos in Roman dresses, with lovely jewelry replicas and under a wealth woman's sun umbrella!
The classical workshops will also be opened on this occasion: bow and arrow target practice, the "archaeologist's corner" and Roman board games.
Entry is free, but we do accept small donation to continue building at Camp Virtus.
