"One-of-a-kind medallions" special online sales event

Atelierul de istorie has started a new series of online sales events hosted by Facebook. The first focuses on unique handmade medallions inspired by the civilizations of antiquity - mainly Dacian and Roman. The Facebook event is entitled "Wearing Antiquity" [Romanian: Antichitatea la purtator].
For two weeks shoppers will have the opportunity to acquire one-of-a-kind jewelry items, made of natural materials available during the ancient period - leather, metal, glass, and burnt clay. Though the small company specializes in handmade objects inspired by the civilizations of Classical Antiquity and its website presents a wide variety of such items, the medallions available during this special, limited-time event are single items that cannot be purchased normally online.
Join the event [June 9th-23rd 2017], see the products and drop us a line if anything is unclear or you wish to communicate in English - we do ship abroad as well :) And remember - this works on a first come first served basis.

Pugnate! a day in the company of gladiators

Saturday, September 10th, is another great day for outdoors historical reenactment at Camp Virtus! The new event, held near Cluj, in Salicea, from  noon till 6 PM, is a day to try out the life of ancient Roman gladiators - with training, fighting, religious rituals, and food cooked according to ancient recipes.

Young visitors will be able to become gladiators by taking part in several activities testing their strength, equilibrium and perseverance. They will have to pull the rope, carry the flag of the school of gladiators, train at the palus and with the gladiators. In the end they will choose a Roman name from a list of famous gladiators' names, will receive a leather bracelet inscribed with it and them they will no longer be tiro (recruits).
Actually, recruiting is another goal for the event. Girls and boys over 18 who want to join our NGO and become legends in the arena are welcome. Becoming a volunteer is free of charge and you get to travel, learn new things and have fun, historically!

Check out the earrings, coins, mosaics, wax tablets with stilus, finger ring keys, leather sandals (calligae), dice sets, even helmets that one can get in order to relive history at its best!

Crepundia

Ancient Roman girls and boys wore jewelry to keep them safe from harm (of both the natural and supernatural kinds). Besides the more famous bulla, there were also necklaces called crepundia, combining various miniatures, jingles, toys and dispersed elements. I find them fascinating and inspiring artifacts, attempting to created contemporary arty variants. Here are some of my Crepundia (available on my Etsy shop).
