Tiny houses linocut

I have just added one of my favorite linocut pieces to my Etsy shop, the Goddess Gruia - a tiny print entitled "Extra muros" depicting tiny houses and monuments from Transylvania. It can be framed and displayed as a picture or used as a card (using the blank back side for writing).

Dimensions: 11.5 x 17 cm (4.5 x 6.7 inches).

Art bookmarks project

I have renewed by older interest in creating unique bookmarks with two more models. The new types are the results of various printmaking techniques: linocut, monotypia, direct impression. These printed bookmarks are in fact the results of an uncycled calendar - see my previous linocut project calendar for 2016. Thus, after using the 12 pages I did not want to part with them so they were given a new life as bookmarks. Some consist of one, two or three rows of individually printed lino numbers, others are from the decorative parts of the calendar, consisting of different types of geometric patterns, dots, spots and results of experimental printing.

They are available on Etsy in my third shop, the Transylvanian Trove, for 1$ a piece :).

Linocut bookmark - fish-boar symbol of the Getae

The item most recently added to the Transylvanian Trove shop on Etsy is inspired by ancient history. The original linocut bookmark is in shape of a fantastic animal,  the mythical fish-boar encountered on ancient gold artifacts of the Getae. Each item is entirely hand-made - hand printed and cut into shape. Several color variants are available.

Hundertwasser as inspiration for linos

Continuing the gilded linocut prints experiment, I have used one of my older house front designs applying gold leaf as accents for smaller elements (door, windows, roofs, or narrow houses). The effects are completed by the color of the paper, reminding me of Hundertwasser's beautiful works, both on paper and in architecture.

 

Music madness

A couple of prints after my "Orchestra" lino plate have gone imperfect due to improperly stored printing paper so I ended up with decoupages of musical instruments. Starting from my previous decorative box created using such elements, I have started a new small canvas entitled "music madness". It turn to the same effect of monoblock color background (saffron yellow) and collage of individual linocut print elements, in this case musical instruments and one stylized sun from the Transylvanian frame of the Goddess Gruia plate. After drying there will be shadows and highlight, but not much, and then the final vernis that makes it shine. There you go. Madness :)

Gilded linocut prints

Goddess Gruia had been busy today in her Sancta Sanctorum gilding linocut prints (contact relics). The project was a first for her, as she has applied gold foil to acrylic paintings and canvas, but never on paper, on simple linocuts. The experiment envisaged several combinations of motifs in Transylvanian cartouche printed on white paper, the result being rather Baroque (the combination of white and gold), but also one try, the best in her opinion, on black paper. It does go better on black, right?
