Cat brooches

The Transylvanian Trove on Etsy features two items targeted for cat lovers, more specifically to those who like black cats. Two of the original handmade brooches in the shop are painted with thematic depictions - one features a cluster of black cats under a cat-shaped moon, while the other shows a cat's hear eating a fish bone. Both are vintage accessories created in Transylvania, Romania, made of metal, with safety pins on the back. They are easy to wear and shall certainly attract everyone's eye!
See all the brooches in the shop HERE.

Tarabostes

The ancient sources mention two social categories among the Dacians - their noblemen, called TARABOSTES or PILEATI were those of rank, standing out through their wearing of the pileus, a typical hat with an in-turned tip, and the COMATI, those who were forbidden such an accessory and carried on bare headed.
Our workshop selling handmade items inspired by the ancient Roman and Dacian civilizations has recently introduced a new category or luxury products, made of more expensive materials and exotica - called tarabostes. It includes the following items:
  • homemade spun woolen Dacian hat, pileus - available online, with description in Romanian, HERE.
  • two gilded original paintings with draco, the war standard of the Dacians - the rectangular one available HERE and the rectangular, larger one, HERE.
  • and special jewelry necklaces and pendants of the exotica type, available at atelieruldeistorie.ro HERE.

Leather DIY projects

I've compiled of list of indestructible that I find useful or good sources of inspiration for leather projects. There are naturally, many more available online, but some are silly and other far too complicated, requiring specialized tools and a lot of know-how. This is a bit of middle ground.
Below are some of my own projects, i.e. earrings which I find very effective (light, warm, and comfortable to wear), easy to make and granting interesting aesthetic effects. See the following previous posts here:
- round earrings with accessories
- coral shaped leather earrings
- leaf -shaped earrings
