New linocut by Goddess Gruia

It is part of a small series of three unique linocut prints on handmade paper, depicting medieval houses on Buda Hill, in Budapest. Each print is singular through the combination of colors, as each ink is applied by finger and roller in various combinations, the ink have different consistency and texture, and some parts of the lino plate are second prints. The uncut edges of the paper contribute to the antiquated look of these unique prints. Entirely hand pulled.

These works best reflect the description of my shop and style:
I am a weekend painter and it gives me great joy to go to the studio [aka Goddess Gruia's holy place, her Sancta Sanctorum] for the benefit of all, mostly myself.
My job is a great source of inspiration - working with historical artifacts and depictions allows me to research past techniques and the effects of time and patina. My profession is another advantage, as an art historian's eye is always receptive to aesthetic compositions and surfaces, even in everyday life.

Easter series

My Etsy offer for Easter includes a series of three miniatures, created in the same technique - linocut, collage, acrylic. They are ready to hang and the small format (20 x 20 cm) makes them suitable for a sunny narrow wall strip in the house, workplace, or shop. They don't need frames as the painting continues on the sides of the canvas. The subject matter is light (cities, homes, people and places) and the style decorative, modern, in natural colors.

Medieval story - original painting on canvas; mixed technique, linocut, acrylic, collage

Return home - original painting on canvas; mixed technique, linocut, acrylic, collage

Life in the city - original painting, mixed technique (linocut, collage, acrylic on canvas), ready to hang

Gruia&Gruia exhibition, december 2008

I invite you to Gruia&Gruia, my first exhibition together with my father. It can be seen (and bought) at Galeriile La Fortuna, Piata Muzeului nr. 6, Cluj, all throughout this December. The place is a nice and cozy cafe where you will have a good time, and there are good chances we will meet there.
My father exhibits a series of flowers and landscapes (oil on canvas) on the upper floor, while I have the basement of the cafe, with works from two different series. The most numerous contains works about Cluj, made in a mix technique (collage, linocut, acrylic on canvas) while the other is part of a an older cycle of acrylics.
