I have just received a new batch of bone and glass beads, so I naturally completed the series of amulet necklaces inspired by ancient Roman fashion, available online at www.atelieruldeistorie.ro. The pieces combine elements made of various materials: glazed pottery, bone beads, sand glass beads, bronze charms, crystal pieces, all strung on natural leather, colored cord. In Antiquity such pieces of jewelry were worn to ward off evil and protect the wearer against the evil eye.

New amulet necklaces -crepundia
Roman children wore necklaces with small toys, shiny stones, jingles and a mix of various elements and beads in order to protect them against evil spirits and harm in general. The fashion was based on the ancient belief in the supernatural. Inspired by these unique pieces of jewelry, I have created a series of necklaces with charms, semi-precious stones, shells, glass beads, bone and different parts, asymmetrical and fun, on natural leather, colorful strings.
More can be found at Atelierul de istorie and several are available on Etsy:

Crepundia bracelets
I have returned to my ancient Roman passion for inspiration in making a new series of products for my reenactment website, Atelierul de istorie. The new bracelets. amulets or Boho chic according to modern terminology, were a type of collage/mix pieces of jewelry meant to protect the wearer against the evil spirits and dangers. Though modern in their arrangement on elastic cord, the crepundia bracelets combine elements made of various materials and colors: hand painted ceramic beads, precious stones, bronze, shells, and other elements.

Crepundia
Ancient Roman girls and boys wore jewelry to keep them safe from harm (of both the natural and supernatural kinds). Besides the more famous bulla, there were also necklaces called crepundia, combining various miniatures, jingles, toys and dispersed elements. I find them fascinating and inspiring artifacts, attempting to created contemporary arty variants. Here are some of my Crepundia (available on my Etsy shop).
